I spotted the prettiest buffet on a Facebook sale site and I just had to get it!
I love this style furniture as well as the lines and it even sported the original hardware so I thought it would be an easy furniture makeover.
I was WRONG.
I had to fill, glue, brace and so on just to get this one in good working order. There was a looseness to it and I had to add some brackets as well as glue to secure it.
The drawer dovetails pretty much all needed glue and I had to do several coats of shellac on it so the stain wouldn’t bleed through which is common for this style and era piece of furniture.
It was a killjoy for sure.
I worked hard on it, but I’m happy to say that I LOVE how she turned out!
I sanded and refinished the top and then panted the base in Annie Sloan’s Chalk Paint in French Linen which is simply a dreamer color.
I adore the final result!
A sweet, gorgeous distressed
BEAUTY of a BUFFET!
She wasn’t fun at the time, but the work certainly paid off!
